RO Philippine Team Heads to Japan for the Ragnarok World Championships
The Ragnarok Online Philippine Team is set to make our country proud as they head to Yokohama, Japan to represent the country in the Ragnarok World Championships (RWC) 2009.
The seven-man PVP juggernaut, composed of Joelson Go, Jayson Go, Mark Anderson Tan, Robert Lee, Ploy Garcia, Xavier Abaya and Rey-an Lopez, thwarted the world championship dreams of 7 other finalists from all over the country last August 21 at the Skydome of SM City North EDSA. Thousands of gamers held their breath as they watched the team, all members of the Coerce Guild of New Chaos server, overwhelm their opponents during the Ragnarok Philippine Championships: Road To Japan event.

The Ragnarok World Championships (RWC), one of the longest-running and most prestigious online gaming tournaments in the world, plays host to 14 teams coming from different parts of the world. For this year’s RWC, the Philippine Team will stand against the best Ragnarok players from Japan, USA, Korea, Brazil, Thailand, Indonesia, China, Vietnam, Taiwan, Singapore-Malaysia, France, Germany, and Russia for the tournament crown and and the $15,000 grand prize.
This weekend, the Philippine squad will fly to the land of the rising sun to show the world the talent and indomitable spirit of the Filipino people – and attempt to accomplish what no pRO (Philippine Ragnarok Online) team has ever accomplished, to lay claim to the elusive RWC laurels.
“We are confident and optimistic about the Philippine Team’s chances of capturing the title. The group has worked hard, preparing for the day when they come face to face with high-caliber RO players like themselves. If they play with as much skill, composure and passion as they had during the RPC finals – a world championship title for the country may not be that far off,” says Ragnarok Brand Manager Ryan Sacares.
